ScaiLabs is the AI laboratory of Scalix B.V. We are both a research lab and a product company — and we believe that combination is exactly what the AI industry needs.

Too many AI products are disconnected from the research that powers them. And too much AI research never makes it into products that real organizations can use. At ScaiLabs, the researchers who study model efficiency are the same people building ScaiMind. The team exploring RAG architectures builds ScaiMatrix. Research insights go directly into production, and production challenges feed directly back into research.

Our Story

ScaiLabs was founded in April 2023 as the artificial intelligence laboratory of Scalix B.V. — a professional software development company with over 20 years of experience building enterprise solutions.

Scalix originated from the Software Development Department of Xillion ICT Solutions and has built a track record creating customized software for small and medium-sized businesses across a wide range of domains. When AI moved from research curiosity to practical business tool, it was clear that the same pragmatic, client-focused approach was needed in the AI space.

That's what ScaiLabs does. We don't chase benchmarks to impress other researchers. We build AI infrastructure that organizations actually use — and we ground that work in serious research that ensures our platform stays at the forefront of what's possible.

Where We Are

ScaiLabs is based at the Brightlands Smart Services Campus in Heerlen — one of the seven officially designated AI hubs in the Netherlands. This location puts us at the heart of the Euregio: the cross-border region where the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium meet.

This isn't just a mailing address. The Euregio position shapes our work:

Academic partnerships with Zuyd Hogeschool and Universiteit Maastricht provide access to emerging AI talent and collaborative research.
Cross-border collaboration with RWTH Aachen and Universiteit Leuven extends our reach into the German and Belgian AI ecosystems.
Talent retention in Limburg is a priority. We invest in creating high-quality AI research and engineering jobs in the region, contributing to the local knowledge economy rather than draining it toward the Randstad.
